THE PERSON BEHIND THE ART

My creative journey

My name is Petra von Husen, although many people in the resin art world know me as Peti’s Homeart, the name of my YouTube channel.

My journey into resin art began with a completely new chapter in my life. In March 2020, I left my hometown of Velbert, Germany, and moved to Vorselaar, Belgium, to be with my partner. Leaving behind Germany and a job where I had worked for almost 32 years was a huge step. The COVID-19 lockdown made this new beginning even more challenging, as I couldn't return to Germany for three months while also trying to find my way in a new country and look for a new job.

Like many resin artists, I started with acrylic pouring. In June 2020, I discovered resin art and began experimenting with it. After many experiments and a few failures, I started sharing my creations with an online community. It was a well-known Australian artist who encouraged me to start my own YouTube channel.

In August 2020, I created my channel under my then name, Petra Gerbracht. Over time, it became known as Peti’s Homeart, the name by which many people in the resin community know me today.

A few weeks after starting my channel, I discovered MoldsandShapes and ordered my first mold — the Round Coaster Mold. As my channel and my resin journey developed, I bought more MoldsandShapes molds and started incorporating them into my work.

In spring 2021, MoldsandShapes invited me to participate in a collaboration with their Brand Ambassador Claire from Claire’s Crafty Corner. I was incredibly nervous, as Claire was already well known in the resin world, but the collaboration was a wonderful experience. Shortly afterwards, MoldsandShapes asked me to become a Brand Ambassador myself.

My journey with Molds and Shapes

Over the years, I was incredibly fortunate to receive tremendous support from the former owners, Marjan and Erik.

Our relationship grew far beyond a typical Brand Ambassador partnership. They trusted my ideas, gave me opportunities to help launch new molds and even brought some of my own mold ideas to life.

We always had an open and honest exchange. There were certainly moments when we had very different ideas or enjoyed some lively discussions, but I always saw this as part of a creative partnership. We respected each other's opinions, challenged each other and ultimately found solutions together. Their encouragement was especially important during times when I felt that my creativity was struggling.

That is why it was difficult for me when, towards the end of 2025, I learned that Marjan and Erik had decided to stop their business. After the many years we had shared and the close bond we had built, I was very sad to see that chapter come to an end.

I was therefore especially happy to learn in summer 2026 that Annemarieke and Erwin would continue the Molds and Shapes story as the new owners.

I am also very happy that they decided to keep the entire Brand Ambassador team. We can now support them in bringing Molds and Shapes' wonderful, high-quality molds to the resin and eco-pour community and help the brand move confidently into its next chapter.

For me, Molds and Shapes has become much more than a mold manufacturer. It has been an important part of my creative journey, and I am very happy to continue being part of its story.

CREATIVE EXPRESSION

My favourite techniques

My favourite resin techniques include 3D Blooms, Crackle Effect, Dragonscale Effect, Web Effect and various Larimar Effects.

I also love developing my own techniques, including Cloudy Flower, Crushed Ice, Seashell and Terra-Flora.

For me, resin art is all about experimenting, combining colours and textures, and discovering new creative possibilities.
